How often do you feel misunderstood? Relationships are tough enough, but finding friends who get you, who make you laugh hard, and who understand you is even harder. Rob Shaffer knows this well. He is a self development mentor who has had his fair share of personal hurdles. Adam Nugent and Kate Strong explore his personal addiction battles, how he beat them, and the need to surround yourself with passionate, driven humans who want to help you succeed.
Accepting yourself doesn’t mean accepting just the good parts or the parts you already like—it means giving grace to our whole selves—even the pieces that we sometimes wish we could change.
Rob Shaffer had a troubled childhood and carried many of those experiences into adulthood—which led to him making some dangerous decisions. When looking at him today, you would hardly believe that he had a felony charge at 18, drug addiction that lasted 8 years, and had to come back from hitting rock bottom. Today he has created strong relationships, is a successful social worker (soon to be LCSW), and also hosts incredible men’s retreats to share his knowledge with others!
His story is one of deep self-reflection and honesty that will inspire you to look at your own life differently.
